Recommendations: App for Your Pregnancy

Apps til gravide

Congratulations on your pregnancy! As an expectant mother, it’s both useful and fun to have one (or more) apps to follow along with the entire process.

It’s naturally a matter of personal preference which app or features one values most. A good tip is to briefly look at various apps and see which one you like best. They have different features and information, so there can be good reason to use several at once. However, it can be overwhelming if your phone is overloaded with unused apps, so it might be a good idea to stick to a couple for a more manageable experience.

Here are a few of our recommendations for good apps for your pregnancy.

Min Graviditet Sundhedsvæsenet (*Danish only)

This app is made by the health service in collaboration with the Danish Health Authority and the Midwives’ Association (and other relevant organizations). It replaces the previously popular “Gravid – følg udviklingen” (Pregnant – follow the development) and contains most of what you need to know about your pregnancy. It is also planned that the digital maternity record will be integrated into the app sometime in 2025. The app is rich in information and has a number of useful features, including:

  • Overview of the pregnancy process, where you can follow which scans and visits to the doctor/midwife you typically need to attend
  • Pregnancy calendar with info about the baby’s stages, etc.
  • Articles, videos, and more about the baby’s development, the mother’s body during activity, official recommendations for diet and lifestyle, and general articles about life as an expectant mother
  • Checklists for everything from tips for the birth bag to shopping lists for newborns
  • Advice and guidance on the first period after birth, including breastfeeding, equipment, sleep, and other relevant topics regarding the baby and your life

Preglife - Pregnancy Tracker

An international app with a wealth of knowledge about the pregnancy process and what you can expect. It contains a vast amount of content on everything from the pregnancy journey, the baby’s development, birth preparation, and much more. The app provides a good and broad selection of content that follows you as your belly grows. Whether it is used as a supplement or a replacement for “Min Graviditet” is up to you, but it is definitely recommendable with a lot of content such as:

  • Calendar that follows your pregnancy development with information about the baby’s size, development, etc.
  • Articles, videos, and podcasts about everything from your diet, tips for pregnancy, and parenthood
  • Guides on breastfeeding and equipment
  • A lot of other content such as reminders, checklists, and birth preparation

Min baby- det første år (Danish only)

Another app developed in collaboration with the Danish Health Authority focusing on the baby’s life after birth. The app serves as a good guide to the baby’s development during the first year with lots of good advice on everything from breastfeeding, crying, sleep, and much more. It’s really good to download in preparation for what awaits and contains a lot of useful information, including:

  • The baby’s development during the first year (week by week) with suggestions and good advice
  • Calendar with reminders about check-ups, vaccinations, vitamins, etc.
  • Advice on breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, food, sleep, checklists, and exercises you can do with your baby
  • Baby’s Book, where you can note important milestones and save pictures for direct printing of the book

Far - godt fra start (Danish only)

A really nice app for dads, who need a little push to download their own pregnancy app or as a supplement to one of the above. The app provides a good overview of all the information needed throughout the pregnancy process and good advice for life as a new parent. In the app, you will find among other things:

  • Baby’s Book, where you can note important milestones and save pictures for direct printing of the book
  • Pregnancy week by week, including the stages of birth
  • Calendar function for doctor and health visits
  • Tips and advice on what to expect before, during, and after birth, how to best act as a birth assistant
  • Dad’s lexicon, good advice on relationships, life as a parent, guides, and much more

Baby Name - Swipe & Match

Finally, a recommendation for those who need a little help agreeing on the baby’s name or just find “name books” a bit too dry to read.

The app is downloaded by one or both parents and works much like dating apps like Tinder or similar. In the app, a lot of approved names pop up, and then it’s just a matter of swiping. Left for no thanks, right for yes, until you end up with a shortlist of accepted names. Fun and useful with a list of your own and mutual approved names.

It’s certainly not essential, but it serves as a fun addition to the name discussion – whether you have trouble agreeing or just need inspiration.

We hope you enjoy our recommendations and congratulations again.
